Alliance for Children and Families (National affiliate for FAST replication - formerly known as Family Service of America) -- Alliance for Children and Families' web site, a benefit for Alliance members as well as a resource for anyone interested in initiatives supporting children and families. What is the Alliance? We are an international membership association made up of private, nonprofit human- and social-service agencies.
 
 
California State PTA -- The mission of the California State PTA is to represent our members and to empower and support them with skill in advocacy, leadership, and communication to positively impact the lives of all children.
 
 
San Diego Unified Council of PTAs -- This Unified PTA Council was founded as a non-profit organization, under the umbrella of 9th District, State, and National PTA in 1989. It was through the combining of eight councils within the San Diego City Schools District that the one unified council was formed and strengthened. PTA is designed to increase the effectiveness of PTAs and San Diego City Schools by the training of parents and school personnel. The PTA Council has been a resource to schools, parents and PTAs for eight years, promoting the welfare of children and youth by helping to create the family and school environment needed to encourage their academic and personal development.
 
 
HIPPY USA (Home Instruction Program for Pre School Youngsters) -- Building on the basic bond between parents and children, the HIPPY program also strengthens the ties of families with their schools and communities. Parents, schools, and communities are unified around the common goal of helping children learn.
 
 
HIPPY CAL (Home Instruction Program for Pre School Youngsters) -- H I P P Y programs empower parents as primary educators of their children in the home and foster parent involvement in school and community life to maximize the chances of successful early school experiences. HIPPY USA supports the development and operation of programs in communities across the United States through ongoing program development and technical assistance informed by research and public policy.
 
 
Chicano Federation of San Diego -- Our mission is to promote the self-sufficiency of San Diego County residence by building partnership and providing education, economic development, advocacy, housing and social service programs.
 
 
June Burnett Institute for Children, Youth and Families -- The June Burnett Institute for Children, Youth and Families was formed in 1985 by the SDSU Foundation through a $1.5 million endowment from the estate of June Estelle Burnett. The Institute emphasizes combined funding approaches that foster cooperation and collaboration; activities that blend direct service and research; interdisciplinary approaches that expand knowledge of children, youth and families; and programmatic evaluation of activities.
 
 
San Diego State University Foundation -- The purpose of SDSU Foundation is to further the educational, research and community service mission of San Diego State University
 
SDSU College of Education, Policy Studies in Language and Cross Cultural Education (Dr. Alberto Ochoa) -- The mission of the Policy Studies in Language and Cross Cultural Education Department is to prepare professional bilingual and cross-cultural teachers, administrators and other educators who are reflective and transformational practitioners in addressing the needs of ethnically and linguistically diverse learners through collaboration with schools, families and community.
 
 
SDSU College of Business, Information and Decision Systems (Dr. James Beatty) -- Students develop a broad background of business knowledge in addition to studying systems analysis, data management, and the basics of modern computer technology.
 
 
San Diego Unified School District -- The mission of San Diego City Schools is to improve student achievement
by supporting teaching and learning in the classroom.
   
  • Parent Involvement Department -- The Department of Parent Involvement and Support carries responsibility for supporting parent centers and parent involvement programs throughout the San Diego Unified School district (San Diego City Schools). It has an existing large library of parent involvement materials in multiple languages.
   
  • San Diego Parent University -- San Diego Parent University is a district initiative designed to offer parents of children preschool-grade 12 high quality classes/seminars aimed at boosting student achievement, strengthening parenting skills, and improving parent-child relationships.
 
San Diego Urban League -- The San Diego Urban League embraces a "hands-up not a hand out" philosophy that focuses on providing opportunities that support individual and family development as well as increased self-sufficiency. The mission and values of the San Diego Urban League provide a yardstick against which all decisions, strategies and performances are measured. Our three service areas: Workforce Development; Education & Family Services; and Urban Housing offer a broad range of programs and services
 
 
Union of Pan Asian Communities -- Since 1974, the Union of Pan Asian Communities (UPAC) has been the primary provider of human care services to San Diego’s Asian and Pacific Islander communities. UPAC staff members represent over twenty-seven different cultures, languages, and dialects. UPAC serves over 50,000 people annually. UPAC has the unique ability to unite diverse cultures and different generations into one community.
 
 
Parent Institute for Quality Education -- The Parent Institute was founded by Rev. Mardirosian using much of the research and many of the educational principles developed by Dr. Alberto Ochoa. The Parent Institute is now campaigning to reach at risk students in all Title I areas of California. It is an expert in conducting outreach activities to parents with children enrolled in high risk, Title I schools.
