Should Attend?
v
The
conference is recommended for participants from all schools, especially
those in program improvement.
v
Teams
from schools are encouraged to attend.
School teams may include administrators, teacher leaders,
counselors, Title I resource staff,
parent liaisons, paraprofessionals, School Site Council members and parent
leaders from PTA/parent
organizations. District/county office
of education Title I and bilingual education
directors, parent involvement
resource staff, District Advisory Council members, and District/Council PTA
members are also encouraged to
attend.
Conference
Content:
v Participants will learn effective
parent involvement practices based on the most current research that meets
the highest professional and
technical standards.
v Conference content includes:
¨ Using successful partnership strategies at
elementary, middle and high school levels to increase student achievement.
¨ Using research-based recruitment strategies to
increase parent and community participation in partnership activities.
¨ Setting up an effective action team to plan
partnership activities that meet the No Child Left Behind Act parent
involvement requirements.
¨ Identifying the strengths of your culturally and
linguistically diverse school community and building a welcoming school
climate.
¨ Identifying strategies to build parent leadership
skills.
¨ Finding funds to support partnership activities.
¨ Providing opportunities to meet parent and school
leaders from other county offices, districts and schools to learn what programs
and practices are working for them.

who would like to earn one unit of university credit from San Diego
State University should indicate this on their registration forms. (1 unit of Education 997 credit is $60.00)
